Mischa Lopiano was born and raised in a small town in Northern California.


He graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College in 2012 with an Associate of Arts in Journalism. 


After earning a degree in Visual Journalism from Brooks Institute and interning at the Fayetteville Observer, The Muskegon Chronicle, and the Lincoln Journal Star, he spent 10 years working in wilderness education, youth development, and expedition leadership throughout Alaska. During that time he continued photographing the communities, landscapes, and people he worked alongside and developing his abilities in analog photography and alternative formats. He is now pursuing editorial and documentary assignments with a focus on environment, outdoor culture, education, and rural communities.


He is available for freelance work in Northern California and beyond.
